For over a century, our members have committed themselves to serving the Houston Heights through philanthropy and the preservation of our historic clubhouse. The following summary highlights the documented community impact from the 2024 calendar year.

2024 Detailed Initiatives

Empowering Students & Schools

  • Student Support (CIS®): Provided $1,258 for student encouragement and $8,800 in holiday gifts for at-risk youth enrolled in the Communities in Schools (CIS®) program.
  • School Uniform Drive: Donated $5,312 to ensure students attending area public schools including Helms and Clemente Martinez Elementary Schools; Hamilton, Hogg, and Marshall Middle Schools, and Gregory Lincoln Education Center are prepared for the classroom.
  • Scholarship Legacy: Awarded a $2,500 Hortense Ward Scholarship to a deserving law student.
Addressing Food Insecurity
  • Kids' Meals: Dedicated 100 hours to preparing lunches for preschool-aged children.
  • Community Gardening: Volunteers spent 30 hours at the Gofney Community Garden in partnership with Target Hunger.
  • Direct Aid: Collected food and donated $723 to the Heights Interfaith Ministries (HIM) food pantry.

Supporting Seniors & Women

  • Senior Engagement: Hosted over 100 hours of events at Heights House and Tower, including our signature holiday cookie drive and social afternoons.
  • Direct Encouragement: Provided hand-crafted Valentines and treat bag donations to local women's shelters.

Commemorative Giving & Civic Support

      • Beyond our primary programs, we also supported the Audubon SocietySt. Andrews Church, and Marshall Middle School teachers—all while maintaining our historic clubhouse as a cherished community landmark.
