April Fools Day - NO FOOLING!
Program: Join us for lunch and hear about the fantastic Rienzi Mansion in River Oaks, known as the "Gem of Houston", an icon of local culture and art. We will hear from Emily Guerra, with the Museum of Fine Arts, who will tell us about the history of the Rienzi House Museum, a River Oaks home built in 1952 and opened to the public in 1999.
Community Outreach: In April 1900, our founding foremothers looked beyond literature and voted to fund "calls for charity," beginning with a simple purchase of groceries for a family in need. Every April, we now honor this 126-year tradition by supporting the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry in nearby Woodland Heights.
Members are invited to bring the following food items to our next meeting to help stock the pantry shelves:
Hearty Meals: "Meals in a can" (chili, stew, ravioli) and hearty soups Pantry Staples: Canned vegetables, dried beans, pasta, rice, tomato and pasta sauce, and peanut butter
Potluck Luncheon: Please bring your favorite savory dish or dessert.
*Please note: once this event reaches capacity, the waitlist will be electronically activated. Any newly opened slots due to cancellation will be assigned to the next member on the waitlist via an automatic email notification.
