As most of you know, a small and dedicated group of our amazing members donates 400 filled toiletry bags to the Star of Hope woman's emergency shelter every year! Each quarter, a this handful of members sews, stuffs, ties, and distributes these bags for women who are fleeing crisis situations, most often with only the clothes on their backs. These handmade bags contain 12 essential toiletry items for the women and are a special item they can keep and call their own. Each bag also contains a small card with a message of support and positivity for the women. It's a lovely on-going project we are all so proud of!

As we head in to the holiday season (yes, it's already coming!), the need at the shelter will be great and the HHWC wants to step up to help even more. There are 300+ women and children in the emergency shelter at any given time. With the assistance of members of the Club and of the community, we have double our usual number of hand sewn bags, over 200 for this quarter, which need to be filled. Please join us for a small but worthwhile community service event in true HHWC style!

This event will be open house style, so come when you can and leave when you have to. There is no program or agenda, just an opportunity to help other women. It will be a lovely event to show potential members some of the community service work we do. As the Club grows, so does our ability to have a positive impact on our community through service. This is also a family friendly event with opportunities for kids to help!

The Clubhouse will be set up with tables of supplies (generously supplied by the Club and its members) and bags to be filled. This will be done assembly line style, which is also a great task where older kids can assist. There will be supplies for children of all ages and adults to make or decorate the note cards which go in to each bag. We will of course have champagne, snacks, and kid friendly refreshments!
