April Weekday Activities Group (WAG) Field Activity - The Reinzi (Wednesday, April 08, 2026)

We will tour the impressive Rienzi, view its European decor, paintings, miniatures, and art, then stroll through its fabulous gardens, just as they bloom for Spring!

When and Where: We will meet at the clubhouse at 10am to carpool. If you want to meet us at the Rienzi (1406 Kirby Dr.), please contact Jamie Renton 504-616-4931. The docent led tour will begin at 11:00. There will be a tour of the gardens from 10:30-11:00 (optional).

Cost: $5 to be paid to Jamie Renton directly, in cash, by Zelle (504-616-4931) or by Venmo (@Jamie-Renton-1).

Dress Attire: Wear your HHWC T-shirts and comfortable shoes (amount of strolling is optional).

Lunch-Update: Lunch will be at Cocody Restaurant and Bar (1971 W. Gray, Houston) a close 5 minute drive from the Rienzi.

Program: Have you visited the Houston Toy Museum?

Adding excitement to nearby 19^thStreet since 2022, the museum features an ever-changing array of toys through the ages. It’s a fun mix of toys, pop culture, and history. Museum owners Matt and Sara Broussard will tell us what it’s like to live the dream of establishing and managing a museum. Spend a nostalgic afternoon with us as we journey down memory lane, learning about the iconic toys and playtime trends that defined the decades.

Community Outreach: Members are invited to join in supporting our annual School Uniform Drive benefiting students at area public elementary and middle schools through cash or online donations.

Details: Arrive at 1:30pm for drinks, light bites, and socializing. The meeting will start at 2:00pm.

Join us for an afternoon of fun and friendship. The camaraderie will always be great!

What’s Happening:

Games & Puzzles: Play your favorites which may include Bingo, board games, cards, Mah Jongg, puzzles, or other games.
Crafting for a Cause: Help us decorate lunch bags for Kids’ Meals, Inc. We provide the bags and basic supplies—feel free to bring your own favorite markers or stickers or any other special supplies you would like to use to brighten a child's day!

What to Bring:

Yourself and any games you’d like to share or additional crafting supplies you would like to use.
Your own snacks and beverages.

Good to Know:

No formal lessons: While we don't have teachers on-site, we can help you find your footing or point you toward local instructors.
Please register in advance: Your RSVP helps us ensure we have enough seating and craft supplies for everyone!

Creativity Group: Line Dancing Night! (Monday, April 20, 2026)

It's line dancing night!

Join us as member Joanie Cockrell leads us through some popular line dances. No prior experience or skill is required. It'll be a great night of music, movement, laughter, and connection. Wear flat shoes that don’t grip or stick to the floor: leather or suede soles are the best. A slick bottom will allow you to turn and move more easily. Heels can damage our wood floor, so please leave your boots and dancing pumps at home.

Happy Hour - For a Cause!

Join us at Savoir to sip, socialize and support our monthly cause.

In April 1900, our founding foremothers looked beyond literature and voted to fund "calls for charity," beginning with a simple purchase of groceries for a family in need. We now honor this 126-year tradition by supporting the Heights Interfaith Ministries Food Pantry in nearby Woodland Heights.

Members are invited to bring the following food items to help stock the pantry shelves:

Hearty Meals: "Meals in a can" (chili, stew, ravioli) and hearty soups

Pantry Staples: Canned vegetables, dried beans, pasta, rice, tomato and pasta sauce, and peanut butter

Prefer to give online? Donations may be made via our website Donate Page. Please select "Food Pantry Donation Drive" as the Cause from the menu.

What to Expect:

Complimentary appetizers will be provided.
Members are welcome to order any additional food and, of course, purchase their own cocktails from the menu.

Please join us for the 152nd Kentucky Derby Horse Race Watch Party where we will bring the Churchill Downs experience to our Clubhouse. Don’t miss this unique Derby experience with the Fashion, the Fascinators, the Roar, the Roses, the Food, the Mint Juleps and of course the iconic Race.

The Kentucky Derby is known as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”. Since its inception in 1875, the Derby has grown into one of the most iconic horse races in the world, renowned for its rich traditions, pageantry, and thrilling competition.

Details to Know:

Registration Cost: $30 per person. Registration closes Wednesday, April 29. Please ensure your payment is also received by April 29th.
Guest Policy: one guest per member - your spouse, significant other, or friend is most welcome!
Dress Attire: One of the Kentucky Derby’s rich traditions is the fashion parade of the spectators. Wear your finest race-watching attire: this is the time for your fascinator, Derby hats and colorful ensembles. We know you'll look spectacular!

Community Outreach: Celebrating Our Graduates

We are delighted to support the 70 graduating seniors of Houston Heights High School in the Communities In Schools (CIS) program! Here is how you can help us send them off with a personal touch:

Share a Message: Members will have the opportunity to hand-write heartfelt, congratulatory messages to inspire these students as they embark on their next chapter.
Card Options: Graduation cards will be provided by the Club, though you are also welcome to bring your own from home.

All cards will be collected and distributed directly to the students in the CIS program to celebrate their hard work and achievement.

Traditional Picnic Potluck Lunch - now held indoors in air-conditioned comfort! Our main protein, chicken, will be provided. Please bring your favorite picnic side or dessert to share.
