Books and Tea Sunday

Drops of Cerulean

by Dawn Adams Cole

Our Books and Tea event will be virtual this year, but we hope you will brew your own cup of tea and join us!

This special literary club meeting is different than our typical monthly meeting - it is the one time a year we join our with our friends at the Southgate First Wednesday Book Club. Traditionally we bring a guest speaker to this meeting, ideally the author of a book both groups have read.  Our meeting this year will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday January 17.

It is a great opportunity to hear from a local author, as Dawn Adams Cole will be present to discuss her book, Drops of Cerulean, a mysterious family saga that takes place in Houston.

You do not have to have finished the book to enjoy hearing from this author!

The Zoom link will be sent out to everyone on the Literary Club email list.

About the book: Spanning the years 1930–2014, Drops of Cerulean chronicles the lives of Ilona, the daughter of a Greek restaurateur, who marries into a prominent Houston family; her son, Cadmus, who becomes a professor and then moves into a retirement home after his husband passes away; and Delphina, an anxiety-ridden woman with a mysterious recurring dream. Ilona and Cadmus have a falling out when Cadmus is a young man, and before they are able to reconcile, Ilona dies. Cadmus is plagued with guilt and feels responsible for the death of his mother. Two worlds collide when, years later, Delphina comes to understand that she had been Ilona, Cadmus’s mother, in her previous life.
